Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where are you located?

We are located in Toronto, ON and we perform all around the GTA. If required, we will travel further for additional fees – which would be determined in advance with our client.

Q. Do you perform covers or originals?

We mainly perform covers as a duo. We can perform our own originals if requested, and we have experience learning and contributing to other artists’ original material when contracted as hired guns.

Q. What type of music do you play?

Our repertoire spans the genre gamut. We play Pop, Rock, Country, Oldies, Reggae; everything. However, if we are hired to perform a specifically themed event (ie. Country Night) we have more than enough material to perform each genre on its own for an entire event. We are capable of playing a multi-genre event or single-themed events.

Q. What instruments do you play?

In our most stripped-down form, we are two voices and an acoustic guitar. However, we also can incorporate keyboard, flute, melodica, bass guitar and percussion. A drum machine is also available upon request.

Q. Do you take requests live?

Yes, and we love to do so! In fact, we’ve even successfully performed songs we’ve never done before on the fly. It’s a nice way to keep us on our toes.

Q. Will you learn specific song requests for my event?

Yes, more often than not, we receive a few requests in advance of the event to learn. We’ve come to expect it. Should we need to learn a larger amount of material, we will incorporate an additional fee into the price to account for the additional rehearsal time.

q. Do you offer live karaoke? How does it work?

Yes, we offer live karaoke. We provide the music and lyrics, and you provide the voice. We will help you through the song as needed. Generally, we ask people to stick to our repertoire. However, if we are familiar with your request we will give it a go.

q. What type of events do you do?

There is no limit to which events we will play. Weddings, festivals, corporate events, funerals (boo), Bat/Bar Mitzvahs, bars and house parties. You name it, we will play there.

q. For how long do you play?

Duration of play depends on the event. We’ve played a song or two for a wedding ceremony, but we’ve also played for hours at bars and lounges. It’s always helpful to know how long we are expected to play prior to the event.

q. What do you charge?

Every event we do is different; so we take a case-by-case approach. We work with each client in advance to discuss and determine the right fees for their event.

q. Do you provide your own sound system?

Yes, for smaller venues and events we provide our sound equipment. For larger events, such as festivals, we typically expect to use the existing system. However, for an additional fee we can rent equipment to use for said performances.

q. Is there a contract to sign?

Depending on the performance, we may request a contract to be signed between the two parties.

q. Is there a deposit?

Depending on the performance (excluding bars) we often ask for a 50% deposit upon time of booking, with the other 50% due at a later date.

q. What payment methods are accepted?

Cash, cheque and e-transfer are accepted. Receipts available upon request.

q. Is there a cancellation fee or refund policy?

If the client cancels the event, we do not refund the deposit. If we cancel (which has never happened) we will refund the deposit.

q. Can I hire you individually?

Yes. You can hire us as a duo, you can hire Sam as a solo performer or you can hire each of us individually on a specific instrument for larger ensembles/bands.

q. Do you have your own method of transportation?

Yes, we have a reliable vehicle that brings us and our equipment to and fro.

q. What are your academic credentials?

Samantha graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Performance degree in Music. She has also completed Grade 10 examinations for voice, flute and piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Dylan graduated Summa Cum Laude from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Music.
